We had a great 12 hour race recently in Hanging Rock State Park and the scenery was just breathtaking, regardless of how tired we were! Anyone that wants to try the sport--or just volunteer to find out more about it--should take a look at two upcoming races (6/12/24 hour races are offered for all levels): The Impossible Panther in the Uwharries on June 5/6 and the Bushwhack Adventure Race on September 26 in the Triangle area (http://bar09.wordpress.com/). It really was a lot of fun. Sure there are hard parts, but learning to deal with them makes dealing the rest of life's challenges that much easier.
